Looking for a quick answer to a download question? To make it easy to understand how our music and video downloads work, we have answers to the most frequently asked questions here
1. What is a music download?
It is a file that you download & save to your PC.
2. What format do you provide?
We provide .mp3 audio files and .wmv (Windows Media Video) files. You
need to be using a PC with
Microsoft Windows Media Player 9 or 10 to be able to listen to playback
the .wmv files or to sync them with portable media
players because they are protected by DRM
(digital rights management).
3. What if I don't have Windows Media Player 9
or 10?
You can download WMP 9 or 10 free from the Microsoft web site
www.microsoft.com. If you are running XP, you can download Windows
Media Player 10. If you have an older PC running Windows ME, NT, or
2000, you'll only be able to use Windows Media Player 9. If you're not
sure of your PC's operating system, the Microsoft web site can check it
and download the right version for you.
4. What if I am using Mac or Linux?
Mac and Linux does not support the DRM protection on WMA or WMV files,
and consequently the two systems cannot play the files. DRM is a
requirement from the record labels
5. What does DRM mean and what can I do with
videos I download?
DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. You can store and listen to
your music on your PC (if you have a sound card and speakers) and you
can
sync with portable music players (if you have a compatible player)
However you need to do all of this via Windows Media Player 9 or 10,
and the number of times you can download, sync or burn tracks is set by
the record label who own the rights to the music. You also need to be
connected to the Internet the very first time you listen to each track
so that Windows Media Player can acquire the licence for each track.
You can listen to the music as many times as you want.
6. What rights do I have to the videos I download?

7. Is my portable music player compatible?
Every mp3 compatible player can playback the audio files. In
order to playback the videoes your player MUST support WMV AND DRM. Try
www.playsforsure.com
or refer to your player user guide or the manufacturer's web site.
8. How long does it take to download a track?
Each track is roughly about 5 Mbytes. To download a track over a 1M
broadband connection will take about 1-2 minutes. On a 56k dial-up
connection it will take roughly 20 minutes.
9. How long does
it take to download a music video?
Each video is roughly about 15 Mbytes. To download a track over a 1M
broadband connection will take about 3-6 minutes. On a 56k dial-up
connection it will take roughly 60 minutes.
10. Where will tracks be saved to on my PC?
Like saving any other file, you're prompted to specify where you want
to save the files. In Windows XP, we suggest your 'My Music' folder,
which is in 'My Documents'. If you're not running Windows XP or don't
have a 'My Music' folder, you can create a new folder.
If you have downloaded files and you can't find them, you can go into
Windows Media Player and hit then click 'search'. When searching for
music on your PC, all audio files will have a .MP3 file extension and
all video files will have a .WMV extension.
11. Should I keep my download receipt emails?
Yes. You'll need your 'Email adress' to REDOWNLOAD tracks and 'Order
number', 'Transaction number' and date for future reference.
12. What happens if I lose my internet
connection part way through downloading, or my PC crashes, or I change
my PC or hard drive?
You can re-download tracks that you have previously bought up to a
pre-defined number of times (set by the record label). Click on the
REDOWNLOAD link. You'll need your transaction details from your receipt
email. If you are a registered user and you are logged on, you will see
a list of all of the tracks that you have purchased while registered,
and will have the option to re-download them.
13. If I still have a problem what should I do?
